I was recently studying the Mosaics of Ravenna, from the Hagia Sophia. The people in the mosaics had rings or circles around their heads. I noticed that many paintings or mosaics from the Gothic art had this as well. Is there a significance to this?
These are made by Darice. They are carried at A.C. Moore online but not in the store. Neither are they carried at JoAnns or Michael’s. The Darice company deals only with stores and they will not tell me who carries the product. I called and asked. I would like to be able to go somewhere and get these. I need them for a Girl Scout project and the shipping would be more than the cost of the product if I got from A.C. Moore online.

I have made a mosaic and am basically done. I have just finished grouting it with light grey grout. But now it has a light film over the top. I have removed this somewhat but the tiles still don’t shine like they used to (obviously because the grout has gone over them).
So I wondering, what’s the best make to make the glass tiles shine best and as much as possible?

I have been searching for a kitchen backsplash for awhile and I finally decided on this particular tile. It’s a mosaic red, orange, and antique gold glass tile. I found this at lowes in a book. The book listed a interior designer, but I would like to know where she bought it! Please help! I have looked for all sorts of tiles and this one is perfect!

I just tiled my bathroom wall above the vanity with 1"x1" mesh backed glass tile. I need to install the vanity medicine cabinet above the vanity now and I just want to know the best way to install it on top of the tile. I know the simple answer is to drill through the grout and install anchors but I want to get some opinions on the best way to do this. Keep in mind the grout lines are only 1/8" so I’m afraid anchors will be too big.

My class is creating a tile mosaic. We can buy the tiles easily. What kind of paint do we need? Is there a site where I can print directions for my class to follow?
Come on, we’re teenagers! We’re gonna screw something up if we don’t have directions to follow…and very likely even if we do!
-Mosaic mirror chips
-Black stilettos (though not to high)
-White Lace tights
-Black Braces
I don’t have all the money in the world so nothing to expensive, and if you could give me some names of shops I could check out that would be great!

I want to glue down a few slightly heavy objects for a mixed media piece. I am looking for the right thing to use for mosaics and also big objects that are not broken like a stone ware jug. I know how to use tile caulking but am interesting in something more stable to put around the objects and add texture . I have not seen anything much about making art with plaster of paris on the web.
It’s time the carpet was replaced and I fancy a change – plus here in Australia we don’t need carpet for warmth. I was thinking of tiles say ½ to 1 inch square – where do I get them, what should they be made of and what could I use to coat them afterwards to protect the surface ?
Also, I have a cement floor – what would be best to attach the tiles ?
